After slipping away from that amazingly awful English class, Esther walked back to the dorms and crept up onto the roof. It was generally quiet up here, except later at night when some rowdy kids would throw their parties. Still, most kids were in class anyway.
The sun was hot on the top of her head and on her back. Still, it was better than being in a stuffy classroom so she couldn't really complain. Esther squinted her eyes while looking down onto the school grounds from the roof. A few kids were up and about doing who knows what. Some even seemed to be heading towards her general direction.
Flopping down onto the hot, cement roof, Esther pulled out her sketchbook and started drawing the scenery, inputting certain details from her imagination. She certainly was grateful that she was finally out of class, and pitied the suckers who weren't.

Beth finished climbing the flights of stairs up to the roof, and emerged. She took a deep breath of the cool, crisp air and looked around. One other person up here. Not bad. She sat down at the edge of the roof, her feet dangling off of the edge. She looked around at the specks of red, some students who were lying at that moment. Man, that was annoying. She rubbed her temples - her head still hurt from the chaos in World History. She hoped that the teacher would be okay.

With a lack of anything better to do, Jay had decided to follow the English-class-skipping girl. After all, what could it hurt? She wouldn't even notice him, being a shadow. The choice proved to be a great feat, tailing her. Numerous times, he lost sight of her. If that wasn't bad enough, people kept stepping all over him. It took a lot to not yelp or scream. The worst of it all, he had to face his greatest enemy - the stairs.
The roof? Jay thought once reaching the top of the last flight. He moved a small distance away, less someone else arrive and walk all over him. Good thing, also. Another girl came, the one from world history, apparently. Hm. Making sure not to be seen, he returned to a human being and sat behind both girls.
(Such a stalker. <_<)

Esther felt a presence behind her. Annoyed that someone just had to intrude on her solitary time, she turned around with a slight glare on her face. To her surprise, there were actually two people; a regular customer of Starbucks and the bloody boy from English class. Gross, Esther thought, he still hasn't washed his face yet.
She wasn't really one to talk, considering that she just didn't like people. Some things, though, warranted her to speak up. For example, interrupting her during a sketch, no, just being in close proximity with her when it wasn't necessary certainly would irritate her enough to force her to speak. Esther wanted to growl at the newcomers.
"What are you two doing here?" she spoke softly with a hint of annoyance in her voice. Hopefully, the others didn't expect her talking to be a regular thing.

Looking up as she noticed that the girl had spoken, Beth smiled lightly. "Free period." she said, shrugging. "I come up here a lot, really. To, just, observe."
She brushed a strand of hair out of her face, still watching as specks of red appeared and dissappeared in her vision. If she had been up close, they would have left spots in her eyes. "The further away, the better."

The girl from English had noticed him, and boy, she looked angry. She also looked pretty disgusted at him. Jay raised an eyebrow, confused. "Oh..." he mumbled, realizing what it was. He slid a hand across his face, once again getting a bloodied hand as a result. "Haha..." he laughed a little nervously. I'm such a dork.
The girl then asked in a rather annoyed voice what they were doing here. The other girl - from first period? - had said something about free period. Yeah, right, he thought, then it was his turn to answer. "Uh... Iunno," he muttered. Why was he here? Maybe it was boredom or that he was jealous of the girl skipping class.

Esther nodded. Well, if they don't stir up too much trouble, it's alright if they stay, she decided hesitantly. Wanting to slowly inch away from the kids, Esther painstakingly resisted that urge, not wanting to offend anyone. Still, every now and then, she would warily glance up from her sketch at the newcomers, especially the bloody one.
Still, it wasn't that she didn't welcome silence because she certainly did. However, there's a drastic difference between a comfortable silence, which is always welcome, and an awkward silence, in which case, verbal communication might be necessary. Unfortunately, this was one of the latter.
Unable to hold it back after minutes of awkwardness, Esther growled hostilely, "Well? Don't you have anything better to do?"

Taken aback by the girl's outwardness, Beth shrugged. "I s'pose I could go, if my being here bugs you." She stood up, and looked down at the two, crinkling her nose at the bloody guy. "Might want to wash your face. Just a heads up. See ya." Scuttling down the stairs again, she grinned to herself. Now what to do with the rest of her free period...?

Anything better to do? Jay closed his eyes, thinking for a moment. Something better to do, something better to do... "Uh, no," he finally responded slowly. What could he do? A lot of people were in classes - not that he had any friends, anyway - and he didn't honestly feel like reading something in his dorm. "Sorry."
He leaned backwards, supporting himself with his arms. The girl from world history was talking. She was being rather nice about the girl's question. He watched as she stood up, about to leave. "Might want to wash your face. Just a heads up." Jay opened his mouth, about to comment, but she was already leaving - leaving him with the antagonistic girl. Great.

Esther felt awful. It wasn't that she was trying to be unfriendly, but she just couldn't help the fact that she wasn't a people person, and probably would never be one. Still, might as well make the most of it, Esther thought, considering that the boy doesn't seem like he's going to be leaving anytime soon.
Sighing, she fished out a napkin for the boy from her backpack, and handed him a bottle of water. She grimaced at the sight of his face. "Here," she said, attempting to be friendly, for once. "Clean your face. It's gross."
The boy awkwardly looked at her. Well, it wasn't her fault that she couldn't stand his unsanitariness. Let's try again, she thought. "My name's Esther. What's yours?"

"Uhm, thanks..." Jay said, taking the bottle of water and napkin. He glanced at it, then back at the girl. She had said her name. Esther. Hm, it sounded familiar. "I'm Jay," he said, when he realized 'Esther' had asked for his. Now that I think about it... "What floor do you live on? In the dorms?" he asked. Then he smiled sheepishly at himself. "Oops..." Probably clean myself before trying to converse...
Rather clumsily, Jay poured a bit of water on the napkin. Some water fell on his jeans, but he ignored it. He then proceeded to wipe the blood off his face, leaving a shiny, clean surface. Lovely, he looked half decent now. "Thanks," he said again.

Stalker, Esther thought, he's definitely the stalker type, especially considering that the first question he asked is where I'm staying. Esther warily responded to his suspicious question, "Third floor..."
He was extraordinarily messy, and a disgusted look was etched on Esther's face. There was still a smear of dried blood under his chin, yet he seemed to be finished wiping his face clean. Exasperated with his unkempt state and his inability to improve it, Esther swiped the napkin from him, making sure to touch only the rare clean spots of it, and scrubbed the bottom of his chin vigorously.
"There was still blood there," Esther explained, realizing the awkwardness of the situation. "Here," she murmured. "Take the napkin back." She tossed the filthy paper into his face, which hit him smack in the nose. Esther blushed.

Oh, wait... Jay thought, coming to realize the stalker-vibe his question emitted. Oops. Nonetheless, she went ahead and answered it - third floor. "Third floor?" he started. "Hey, that's where I-" Before he could continue, the girl began rubbing at his chin. Hard. "Ow..." he mumbled.
"There was still blood there" was her excuse. Jay sighed. Figures. He never could keep himself clean. "I appr-" Once again, the boy was interrupted. Though, this time, the blood stained napkin hit his already bruised nose. It was official; This girl is mean...
