(Because Eileen said I could. >_>)
Name;;
Jay Claran Klein
Age;;
Fifteen and a half
Class;;
Freshman
Gender;;
Boy / Male / Dude / Guy / etc.
Date of birth;;
April 19th, 1993
Appearance;;
He’s underweight and extremely lanky (mostly due to the fact the only thing he eats are salads). For some bizarre reason, he’s still a little tall (not very, but he’s not short, either). He also has an ivory complexion (heh, what else is being a shadow going to do to you?).
His hair is (somehow) naturally black, with a few strands of ash brown in the thin mess. The front drapes slightly over his dark eyes – dark enough to be commonly mistaken for black. Out of the entire family, he sticks out the most; everyone else has ash brown hair and lighter eyes.
As for clothes… Mainly, he wears a dark colored hoodie and fitted jeans. Don’t forget the Chuck Taylors, high top, ‘cause he’s a conformist like that.
Personality;;
Jay is, quite possibly, one of those ‘behind the scenes’ person. He usually goes about unnoticed, and he’d like to keep it that way. He hates being in the spotlight and would rather be unheeded.
As if to spite his wishes, he was granted a crude coordination and can be rather clumsy at times. Nor does it help that his sister, Nicolle Klein, was one of the best students at the school; some teachers are watching him, waiting for something impressive to happen from Nicolle’s kid brother.
Talking to people is quite possibly one of the things he hates the most (about himself, at least). When he talks to someone, he somehow manages to embarrass himself relentlessly.
History;;
Jay’s ‘gift’ was revealed in the second grade when he was being teased and ridiculed for his quietness. In the midst of it, he just vanished. A teacher was later informed, and a search party ensued. Eventually, he was found in a janitor’s closest, bawling as if his mother had died. The overprotective parents then decided to homeschool him from then on. He was forbidden to go outside for the fear that he might become lost or – worse - even more ridiculed.
Needless to say, Jay was friggen pissed off about his parents’ commands, but followed them anyway. He grew up with no friends except for his older sister, Nicolle, who was at a boarding school for gifted. Although the weekly visits were short, they grew a strong bond with each other. So strong, in fact, that Nicolle willingly smuggled Jay from their parents’ house to their grandparents.
Life in the outside world wasn’t as dandy as he had imagined it to be, Jay soon discovered. Dismayed, he continued with his homeschooling but with his grandparents, refusing to return to his original home. His only friend remained to be Nicolle who had graduated from the boarding school when he was eleven.
Then, two years later, the trauma really hit.
Nicolle, on her way home, got into an accident with a drunk driver and died with no chances of surviving. Now, Jay was completely alone except for his grandparents and his parents, but he kept himself locked away in his room. Obviously, the child was depressed. When two years had passed with no progress, they got fed up and sent him to the same boarding school as Nicolle, hoping he’ll achieve as much as she did.
He doubts it.
Relations;;
Richard and Cheryl Klein, the parentals. Claran and Florence Klein, the oh, so loving grandparents. Nicolle Klein, his beloved, departed sister. Percival Klein, his uncle, and his wife Alyssa. And, of course, Vince Klein, his unknown-to-him cousin.
(I feel weird if I don’t put all of this.)
Hobbies;;
Although he’s not exactly a straight A student, Jay’s pretty knowledgeable. This comes from his hobby of reading. He’s usually at the library a lot because of it.
Some people believe that Jay’s solitariness means he hates people. Not true. He likes watching them go on their daily business; sometimes he’ll just stick in one spot all day and watch people do whatever.
Extracurriculars;;
None.
Dorm Number;;
314
Powers;;
To put it simply, Jay can willingly turn himself into a two dimensional shadow. The process is fast and easy – for the most part, he just has to be on the floor, and he’ll sink into it, turning into a silhouette. The gift is useful for sneaking around, although it’s hard to notice a shadow not belonging to anyone in particular. He can go through the space beneath doors as long as it’s wide enough.
Drawbacks;;
Well, for one thing, he can’t turn into a shadow if there’s no light source. And if there is, it has to be a decent one. If it’s a little dim, it’ll take a lot of concentration.
If people step on him, it hurts. If something falls on him, it hurts. If water is spilled on him, he gets wet. Etcetc.
Maneuvering when you’re two dimensional isn’t exactly that easy when you’re used to being three dimensional. He can get dizzy a lot when trying to navigate.
