Name-
Beth Jane Roth
Age-
15
Class-
Sophomore
Gender-
Female
Date of Birth-
June 1st, 1991
Appearance-
Beth's eyes can be described as anything but just plain old 'brown.' They are the darkest of browns, almost black. They have a little glimmer to them that screams 'up to something.' In Beth, the phrase 'the eyes are the windows to the soul' is true. You can tell anything about her just by looking at her almond-shaped eyes.
During a rebellious streak, she got her hair chopped off to look like a guy's, and so the sleek black is now in a short, shaggy 'do that she rarely does anything with.
She's kind of short for her age, about 5'5, and is an average weight.
She has no tattoos, and no piercings other than the two in her ears.
Despite her boy-ish haircut, she does dress like a girl, though simply and (most of the time) modestly.
Powers
(( I moved this one, because otherwise, the history won't make sense. ))
She detects poison in food and when people are lying.
And now, if you don't wish to be bored, skip the next paragraph or so. ;D
People or things that are lying glow red in her vision - she's very sensitive to it. She hardly ever goes to movies, because the people glow red - they're lying about their identity. Names are a big deal. If someone tells her their name is something they arn't called, even if it is their real name, it'll glow red. For example, if someone's name is Michael, and the prefer to be called Mike, but they introduce themselves as Michael, they glow red to her.
As for poison, not all things that are poisonous will kill. She's not as sensitive to poison, but even expired milk will glow green. It's annoying, to her.
Drawbacks
She's not very good in a fight, as her powers are no good in combat.
Sometimes, if someone or something is telling a big enough lie, or if something's heavily poisoned, it will glow a bright red or green and blind her temporarily. It's like looking at the sun.
Personality-
Beth is a loud, outspoken girl. She voices her opinion, not caring what others think. She likes herself single, and will definitely turn you down if you ask her out, even if she likes you.
She loves to run, and run, and run. Can't keep up? Too bad for you.
It's fairly easy to become her friend - she's pretty social. But you'd have to approach her - not her approach you.
Sometimes, the best of friends will breach out of a question on the assignment in class. She is an intelligent girl, and respects people who arn't afraid to ask questions.
Also, she plays the flute in concert band. And yes, she will gladly wake up your roomie with a high G.
Also, she swears Starbucks is planning to take over the world, but can't deny her caffeine addiction, and thus, she contributes.
She is a troublemaker at times, and has hacked into the school's computer system to send out mass e-mails that classes have been canceled more than once. You can tell it's her, however, because she always puts her trademark on them - a little squiggle after the third word.
She loves photography, and enjoys freaking out people by randomly snapping pictures with the flash on.
You can find her at Blue Moon sometimes, but she doesn't drink. Just takes pictures of drunken people.
History-
Beth grew up with her older brother, mom, and dad. Her younger sister was born just before she left for school. They lived in an average-sized house in an averaged-sized house with an average-sized income. That was that. Just your average family, take away the powers in all but the father.
At a young age, her brother began to glare red in her vision at times when talking about things like Santa and the Tooth Fairy. Eventually, she put together the pieces and figured out that she was a human lie detector.
Next thing you know, things in their refrigerator began to glow green. They were all past the expiration date. Viola, and she knew she could detect poison.
Her parents sent her to the local normal schools, as her powers couldn't destroy anything, maim anyone, or reveal themselves in unexpected ways. She just had to keep her thoughts to herself.
But then, at the end of freshmen year, the meatloaf they were serving in the cafeteria glowed green in her vision, and she accidentally blabbed that it was poisoned. This caused a ruckus. She was suspended.
Her parents decided it was time to send her to a place where she could stand telling people she knew they were lying and that the milk was past the expiration date when the label was peeled off. So, to boarding school she went.
